Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a groundbreaking use of technology to help improve neurocognitive function in those that have experienced a traumatic episode that caused a decline in cognitive and physical health. We will review TBI and post concussion syndrome pathophysiology, risk factors, current management and the efficacy of HBOT according to literature.
Learning Objectives:
Identifies and integrates the risk factors associated with post concussion syndrome
Attendees will be able to recognize how controlled and enhanced oxygen supply to the brain can significantly impact cognitive and physical decline from various types of traumas
Integrates the outcome of a neuropsychological assessment to the diagnosis of post concussion syndrome
Discuss and debate the current management techniques of post concussion syndrome
