Translating research into evidence-based practice in the context of pressure injury (PI) management requires the collaboration of specialized interdisciplinary team members, and a multi-dimensional support framework within hospital systems to ensure compliance and sustainability. This symposium presentation will provide a background for conceptualizing and integrating an interdisciplinary wound rounds model using evidence-based practice. This session will be lead by a panel of interdisciplinary wound rounds team members including expert clinicians and organizational leaders at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. This session will also highlight three case studies to demonstrate application to a clinical setting. The interdisciplinary wound rounds model at SRAlab is particularly unique as clinicians take a patient centered approach in promoting skin integrity, while also maximizing rehabilitation outcomes for patients.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will summarize the evidence supporting interdisciplinary wound rounds
Upon competition, participants will understand how to organize interdisciplinary teams to effectively evaluate, treat, and prevent pressure injuries
Upon completion, participants will be able to create a basic framework for integrating interdisciplinary wound rounds into the inpatient rehabilitation setting
Upon completion, participants will be able to verbalize alternative strategies to mobilize patients while protecting skin integrity
