This double-symposium offers a unique opportunity for rehabilitation professionals to engage with senior researchers, engineers, clinicians, and administrators at leading clinical rehabilitation institutions that are in the process of establishing new programs for advanced data analytics and precision rehabilitation. Part 1 focuses on opportunities and challenges for collecting and mining activity and outcomes data for actionable intelligence to support patients in their rehabilitation journey in the clinic and in community settings. Part 2 focuses on the development and implementation of mobile technologies to capture patient activity and clinical outcomes. Learners will: 1) be able to identify core questions driving current research in Precision Rehabilitation; 2) understand the conceptual and engineering opportunities and challenges to collecting and analyzing data to inform Precision Rehabilitation; and 3) explain the specific engineering advances and challenges for using mobile devices to capture activity and outcomes data.

Learning Objectives:

Explain basic principles that are key to developing and implementing precision rehabilitation interventions in patients affected by various conditions
Identify key metrics driving current research toward developing precision rehabilitation interventions
Identify opportunities in clinical practice to develop precision rehabilitation approaches by leveraging existing data and data analytics tools
Explain the challenges related to using mobile technology to capture activities and outcomes data outside the clinic
Discuss the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the analysis of data relevant to the design of precision rehabilitation interventions
