This symposium will outline basic tenets of the whole person athlete development model and the Athlete Development Monitoring Tool with a focus on the adolescent athlete. Presenters will outline current knowledge regarding the academic performance and social - emotional health of adolescent athletes. Interventions that have been applied to improve high school athlete academic performance and social or emotional health will also be reviewed. A group intervention case example from the literature will be used to demonstrate potential application of the Athlete Development Monitoring Tool and interventions. Facilitators and barriers of the model and the monitoring tool will be discussed
