Vestibular dysfunction and symptoms of dizziness cause individuals to experience dizziness and imbalance and may result from neurologic injury or dysfunction. These symptoms are associated with fall risk, poor-quality of life, sedentary behavior, increased medical leave and increased disability. Individuals with vestibular dysfunction often do not receive standardized care. After insult to the nervous system, from pathology or injury, patients may experience symptoms of dizziness and may develop Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), contributing to physical and mental disability. Due to lack of uniformity, individuals with vestibular dysfunction can be misdiagnosed, leading to disjointed and non-efficient care. Using a multidisciplinary approach wherein complex neurological patients are evaluated and treated by a physician, neuropsychologist/rehabilitation psychologist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist streamlines diagnosis and treatment.
