Evidence-based guidelines have identified Teen Online Problem Solving (TOPS) as the practice standard for the treatment of executive function challenges in adolescents with acquired brain injuries (ABI) (Laatsch et al., 2020). TOPS provides training in inhibition, self-monitoring, self- and emotion-regulation, and effective communication within a problem-solving framework. Funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute supports the widespread implementation of TOPS at 15 sites in the United States and Canada. This interdisciplinary course describes the rationale and evidence base for TOPS and provides an opportunity to explore the online learning modules, including in-depth practice with the problem-solving wizard. Instructors will describe the clinical implementation process including referral pathways and billing codes. We will also discuss program adaptations for delivery by speech language pathologists and use with a range of neurological diagnoses and diverse families, including case vignettes. Discussion will consider challenges to implementation and identify potential strategies to mitigate these challenges.
