Strategy and planning are key when implementing innovative programs in healthcare. Evidence-based best practices supporting new programs have long been disseminated through the use of toolkits, which do not always explain how to use the tools. In recent years researchers and program developers have moved beyond the traditional toolkits to a more strategic approach to planning complex implementation efforts--playbooks. Literature suggests implementation efforts in healthcare and more specifically, rehabilitation, can be strengthened by employing playbooks to drive implementation efforts. The aim of this hands-on symposium is to provide the audience with 1) an engaging look at the distinct characteristics and value of playbooks; 2) an interactive experience to build key playbook components development skills; and 3) knowledge of methods and best practices for designing, developing, and implementing playbooks with key stakeholders.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to understand of the value and benefits of using playbooks to support program implementation in public health and healthcare settings.
Identify and describe key components and characteristics of playbooks.
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the value of collaborating with key stakeholders when designing, developing, and implementing playbooks.
Apply an evidence-based approach when designing and developing playbooks to support implementation priorities in healthcare systems.
