Development and Validation of Fidelity of Coaching for Spinal Cord Injury

Research Objectives: To develop and validate a fidelity measure of coaching-in-context for persons with spinal cord injury (SCI)

Design: Descriptive qualitative method: expert panel

Setting: Research lab

Participants: Expert panel (X=3) was consulted to inform the content validity of the fidelity measure by providing feedback on the item structure, clarity, and content.

Interventions: Not applicable

Main Outcome Measures: Not applicable. This study involves the development of a fidelity measure.

Results: A fidelity measure was developed for coaching-in-context in the administration-by-observation (live or recorded). Expert panel with persons with SCI and caregivers of persons with SCI are planned to continue refinement. The fidelity measure will later be examined to determine its relationship with client engagement and psychosocial outcomes, and its ability to discriminate between varied levels of fidelity.

Conclusions: The study findings informed the development and content validation of the fidelity measure.
