Dr. Ruban Dhaliwal is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and the Director of Metabolic Bone Disease Center at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. She is also a Visiting Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School and a Research Physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was a research scholar in the New York State Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program at the Winthrop University Hospital where she studied the effects of calcium and vitamin D on skeletal health in African Americans. After completing her training in endocrinology, she obtained a degree in Master of Public Health. She is a passionate clinician with a special focus on osteoporosis and rare bone disorders. She has a special research interest in the pathogenesis and management of osteoporosis and bone fragility in diabetes. She is well published in peer-review scientific journal. She has been the investigator for research projects funded by industry, NIH and non-profit organizations. She serves in various roles in national and regional organizations. She is a member of the Endocrine Society’s Advocacy and Public Outreach Core Committee and chaired the Society’s policy initiative on advancing equity in endocrine research, treatment, and care. She also serves on the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research’s Publication Committee.
