Andreea Bujor is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at Boston University, specializing in systemic sclerosis/scleroderma. Her research focuses on myeloid cells and the mechanisms of scleroderma cardiomyopathy, and she has a strong clinical interest in systemic sclerosis.
Andreea Bujor received her MD-PhD degree in Romania, and joined Dr. Trojanowska’s lab as a postdoctoral fellow doing basic science research in scleroderma at the Medical University of South Carolina. As a post-doctoral fellow her project looking at the she Akt/mTOR signaling in fibrosis has received two international awards and funding through the Arthritis Foundation. As a Research Assistant Professor at Boston University, she has continued her work on fibrosis, investigating the role of Fli1 and caveolin-1 in extracellular matrix deposition, a project that was funded through the Scleroderma Foundation.
Dr. Bujor completed her clinical training and became a board certified Rheumatologist in 2017. After graduating from her Rheumatology fellowship at Boston Medical Center, she accepted a position at Boston University, where she is combining her basic research and clinical skills with the aim of becoming an independent physician scientist. Her project entitled “The role of myeloid Fli1 in organ fibrosis in scleroderma” has received the Rheumatology Research Foundation Investigator Award with the Malawista designation.
