Rebecca Olveda is a third-year pediatric rheumatology fellow at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her research focuses on health disparities in juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) and pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus (pSLE). She recently completed the year-long Advanced Training in Clinical Research (ATCR) certificate program at UCSF which provided formal training in clinical research methods. This training allowed her to independently conduct research to analyze how differences in race and ethnicity affect disease outcomes in pSLE and JDM. Her long-term goals are to identify interventions that can reduce racial and ethnic disparities in pediatric rheumatology.
