Yann’s research project focuses on the detection and mapping of anti-mitochondrial autoantibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and their association with disease manifestations. His work was awarded with a grant from the Fond Pierre Borgeat sur l’arthrite et les maladies rhumatismales in 2015, a grant from the Fondation du CHU de Québec in 201.
These results aim to provide new biomarkers in SLE that may allow the development of novel clinical tests for the prediction of the disease activity, severity or the stratification of patients to improve medical care in this highly complex disease.
Yann is the recipient of scholarship grants from the Arthritis Society and the Fond de Recherche en Santé du Québec and from a bursary from the APS Foundation of America.
Yann has always been interested in translational and clinical research. He uses his training in immunology and physiopathology to work for a better understanding of SLE pathogenesis to improve patients’ care. Yann also has extracurricular interests in scientific vulgarization and participates to “Le Tour d’Y Voir”, a YouTube podcast (in French) about the challenges in communication in times of sanitary crisis.
In his future research career, Yann would like to keep working on the study of auto-immune diseases in order to improve medical care and to alleviate SLE outcomes on patients’ quality of life.
