Dorothy “Jet” Patterson was raised in Hot Springs, AR. She obtained Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and Biology from the University of Arkansas Fulbright Honors College, where she was a Prestigious Sturgis Fellow. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree with Honors in Research from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), and will complete her medical residency in combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center in June of 2023.
Dr. Patterson envisions using her combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics training within an academic setting to serve young adults with rheumatic disease as they transition from pediatric to adult care systems. Her most recent research has focused on developing multidisciplinary care models within rheumatology clinics. Additionally, she is interested in Bioethics and the Medical Humanities and has experience with curriculum development, academic writing and didactic teaching in this arena; she serves on Parkland Hospitalʼs Institutional Ethics Committee.
