University Sorbonne Paris Nord
Bobigny, France
I am Full Professor at University Sorbonne Paris Nord (Bobigny, France), Deputy Director of INSERM UMR 1125 and team leader. After a PhD in the field of immunology and autoimmunity (Supervisor: Dr. Sylviane Muller, Institut de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire, Strasbourg, France, 2000), I moved to Germany for a 3-year post-doctoral training (Institute for Cell Biology, Department of Immunology, Tübingen, Head: Prof. Hans-Georg Rammensee) to work both on systemic autoimmunity and tumor antigens. There, I became group leader in the field of inflammation and autoimmunity (2004-2010) and I succeeded in developing an independent research theme on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in a Department dedicated to tumor immunology. In 2010, I returned to France as Associate Professor with INSERM Chair at University of Paris 13, Sorbonne Paris Cité (former EA4222, then INSERM UMR 1125, Head: Prof. Marie-Christophe Boissier) and since then I am focusing on the role of innate immunity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and mouse models. I combine strong experience in analyzing T cell and antibody responses, in the field of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) and monocytes/macrophages/dendritic cells, in the role of neutrophil extracellular traps (NET) and extracellular chromatin as autoantigens or damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) in healthy donors, RA and SLE patients, and mouse models. Currently, I am focusing on antigenicity, immunogenicity and pathogenicty of NET.
