I am a clinical pain scientist focusing on chronic pain mechanisms. I am currently a postdoctoral associate in Boston University School of Medicine as well as a licensed physical therapist in the US and Japan. My long-term research goal is to establish a use of clinical tools to identify underlying pain mechanisms to guide therapeutic decision-making rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach to managing chronic pain conditions, especially knee osteoarthritis (OA) and chronic low back pain conditions. I also aim to develop preventive strategies or treatments targeting central and peripheral pain mechanisms to ultimately reduce the prevalence of chronic pain and its attendant suffering. In addition to my 8-9 years of clinical experience and 6 years of graduate research experience that had fully focused on clinical pain sensitization research, I am currently focusing on learning and applying advanced epidemiologic methods and statistical analytic approached to large-scale studies in knee OA.
