Dr. Claudia Bracaglia is a physician scientists involved in both clinical activity and translational research.
Since her residency, she has worked as a paediatric rheumatologist involved in the diagnosis and treatment of children with rheumatic diseases.
At present, she is a part of the full time staff of the Division of Rheumatology of the Children’s Hospital in Rome (IRCCS Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù) led by Dr. De Benedetti.
During her Residency programme, she spent a period at the Rheumatology Department of Immunology Division at the Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston (MA). Under the supervision of Prof. Robert Sundel, during this period she focused her research particularly on systemic Lupus Erythematosus and systemic vasculitis.
In the last few years, she focused her research particularly on systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and Macrophage Activation Syndrome (MAS). She was involved in a project concerning the role of IFNand IFN induced chemokines in the pathogenesis of MAS. Actually, she is involved in a multicentre Italian project on the genetic background and the immune biomarkers of MAS in the context of sJIA and of secondary HLH.
