Graduated in Biology (Biochemical and Genetic Specialty) in 1990. PhD in Bimedicine for the University of Córdoba in 1996. Postdoctoral stays at the Oncology Research Institute of Barcelona (1997-1999) and the Lupus Research Unit of the St Thomas Hospital in London (2001). From November 2001 to 2006 researcher of the ‘Ramón y Cajal’ postdoctoral Program. From November 2006 to April 2012 senior Researcher of the ‘Incentive Program for the Incorporation and Intensification of the Research Activity (I3)’. Since April 2012, Senior Researcher Hired by the ‘Nicolás Monardes’ Program.
Membership in National Cooperation Networks: RIER (Research Network on Inflammation and Rheumatic Diseases - RD16 / 0012/0015) and APS-action (International consortium for the study of Antiphospholipid Syndrome).
Since 2008, Dr. Lopez-Pedrera has been a Senior Group Leader at the Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba (IMIBIC), where he investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms of atherothrombosis in the context of systemic autoimmune diseases, including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Antiphospholipid Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is also focused on the identification, by genomic and epigenetic approaches, of new biomarkers for the diagnosis or the therapeutic effectiveness of new drugs in these autoimmune disorders. Her team's contributions have been published in journals such as Blood, Annals of Rheumatic diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatology, etc
