Dr. Young received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a Biochemistry minor from the Department of Biology at The Ohio State University. Subsequently, he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemical and Molecular Disease Mechanisms from the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in the Integrated Biomedical Science Graduate Program. In his graduate research, he identified novel signaling pathways and clinically actionable targets in glioblastoma multiforme carcinogenesis. Continuing at Ohio State, he works as a research scientist in the Department of Rheumatology, where he directs research projects associated with cancer immunology or immune disorders, including myositis, Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. His translational research efforts resulted in a clinical trial of a patented anti-inflammatory drug in breast cancer patients, a clinical trial with a novel diagnostic imaging drug for rheumatoid arthritis, and a patented anti-inflammatory therapy to treat autoimmune disease. He is also an author on more than 25 novel, peer-reviewed research publications.
