Lars Rogge has obtained his PhD from the University of Munich. Supported by a fellowship from the Human Frontier Science Program, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Pathology Department of Stanford University. Before joining Institut Pasteur, he was leading a research team in the Inflammation & Autoimmune Disease Department of Hoffmann-La Roche in Milano, Italy and was associate founder of the Biotech company BioXell.
Lars Rogge directs the Immunoregulation Unit affiliated with the Immunology Department at Institut Pasteur in Paris. He also co-founded and co-directed the Center for Human Immunology, a translational research center and European FOCIS Center of Excellence at Institut Pasteur. In 2016 Lars Rogge and Pr. Maxime Dougados created the Joint Research Unit “Immunological Research in Spondyloarthritis” that established a formal link between the Rheumatology Department at AP-HP Hôpital Cochin in Paris and the Immunoregulation Unit at Institut Pasteur. This joint research unit facilitates the efficient exchange of know-how to allow rapid progress and increased productivity and provides excellent training opportunities for medical fellows.
Lars Rogge has an internationally recognized expertise in human immunology and the coordination of translational studies. His main research interest is to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, with the goal to develop personalized treatment strategies and novel diagnostic tools.
