Dr. Bykerk, is a Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, an Attending Rheumatologist and Director of the Inflammatory Arthritis Program at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York with over 35 years of clinical and research experience. Her research focus is in early and established RA. Dr. Bykerk received her MD and epidemiology training from McMaster University, training in Internal and Critical Care Medicine at U of Toronto, and in Rheumatology at McGill University in Canada. She has practiced in community and academic settings, worked as a clinical researcher and scientist, served as director of the early arthritis program at U of Toronto and is the PI and Director of the CATCH studies including the Canadian Early Arthritis Cohort (CATCH) Study and more recently the Consortium of Early RA Cohorts-USA. In 2009 she transitioned to the Brigham and Womens Hospital, in Boston and to her current position in 2011. Dr. Bykerk and her colleagues have authored RA Practice Recommendations, developed white papers to promote early diagnosis and treatment of RA, revise the ACR EULAR RA classification criteria and derive a patient reported measure of RA Flare. Dr. Bykerk has provided clinical leadership to the Accelerated Medicines Partnership since 2014, aimed to unravel the pathophysiology of RA. She is a dedicated researcher, mentor and educator.
