Dr Shi-Nan Luong is a Rheumatologist and Lecturer currently working at the University of New South Wales and Liverpool Hospital, Australia. Dr Luong received her Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery/Science (Medicine) degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales. Dr Luong is currently undertaking her PhD in obstetric medicine and autoimmune rheumatic diseases, with a focus on systemic lupus erythematosus. Her PhD has been mainly based at University College London in the United Kingdom. During this time, she gained invaluable clinical experience in managing patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus, and learnt useful laboratory and research skills.
She has been the recipient of several research grants and scholarships, including the Arthritis Australia Leanne Stafford Award, Lupus UK grant and University Postgraduate Award. She is a co-author on the current Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA) guidelines on rheumatological medication use in pregnancy and fertility preservation practice recommendations. She has presented her work at the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, British Society of Rheumatology, Japan College of Rheumatology and Australian Rheumatology Association conferences, and has published in international journals.
