Marilyn Pike, M.D., Ph.D. performs medical consulting for clinical trials advanced by the Biopharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Pike obtained her B.A., Ph.D. in Microbiology-Immunology and M.D. degrees from Duke followed by internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. She then became an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical Center followed by an Associate Professor at MGH continuing discovery research in the area of inflammation, specifically molecular aspects involved in leukocyte signaling. She also attended in the General Medicine and Rheumatology inpatient units and clinics.
Due to advances made in the molecular aspects of inflammation, Dr. Pike then focused her attention on clinical research to help advance the development of more targeted drugs for the rheumatic diseases. After working in Biotech companies for 9 years on clinical trials for anti-inflammatory biologics, Dr Pike then established MedPharm Consulting, Inc. which has centered on designing and executing clinical trials in Lupus for the last 15 years. During this time she maintained her appointment at MGH and continued to staff fellows, see patients and attend conferences until 2014.
Pike currently continues clinical research in Raleigh, NC exclusively in the area of Lupus, and contributed to the development of one drug for Lupus which was recently approved by the FDA.
