Dr. Abdel-Wahab is a rheumatologist and immuno-epidemiologist serves as an Assistant Professor in the Section of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology and holds a joint faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also serves as an Associate Professor and Consultant of Rheumatology at Assiut University Hospitals, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University in Egypt.
Dr. Abdel-Wahab research focuses on the rheumatic and autoimmune syndromes arising in the context of cancer and its therapy. She is the recipient of a K01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to primarily investigate the association of specific immune cell signatures and inflammatory cytokines with the occurrence of inflammatory and immune-related adverse events in cancer patients receiving immunotherapy and evaluate the full impact of these therapies including its potential toxicity/symptom burden on the patients’ quality of life.
