I am originally from Ecuador, where I attended medical school. To enhance my learning and research experience, I decided to pursue further training in the United States. I joined Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx, New York, where I finished internal medicine residency and was honored to stay an extra year as a chief resident.
During these years, I have refined my skills as a clinician-educator and realized my true passion for teaching students, residents, and patients.
For the next step in my career, I was fortunate to join the division of Rheumatology at UAB, where under the guidance of inspiring rheumatology faculty, I have further enhanced my clinical knowledge and skills by getting exposed to a myriad of rheumatic diseases and emergencies.
