Dr. Soumya Chatterjee is a Staff Physician at the Cleveland Clinic Orthopedic and Rheumatologic Institute. He is a Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is board-certified in rheumatology and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Rheumatology, and the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. Following his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training in India, he trained in internal medicine in the United Kingdom. He also completed three years of fellowship training in rheumatology in the UK after obtaining membership in the Royal College of Physicians in 1993. His training in the US was at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, where he completed an internal medicine residency, chief residency in internal medicine, and his second fellowship in rheumatology. Also, in 2003, he earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan. He treats patients with complex, multisystem rheumatologic conditions. He takes care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and myositis. His focus is scleroderma (systemic sclerosis). In 2005, he established the Cleveland Clinic Scleroderma Program. He has been involved in numerous research projects on scleroderma. He enjoys teaching and mentoring residents and fellows in internal medicine and rheumatology. Cleveland Clinic rheumatology fellows selected him as Teacher of the Year in 2006, 2010, 2017, and 2022.
