Dr. Lerman is a pediatric rheumatologist. She is an attending at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she is the assistant director of the Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship. She is the co-founder/co-director of the Ophthalmology-Rheumatology Uveitis Coordinated Care Clinic which provides streamlined care to children with complex inflammatory eye disease. Her research portfolio focuses on understanding juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), in particular its manifestation of uveitis. She is interested in understanding the comparative effectiveness of different agents to achieve and maintain steroid-sparing control in pediatric uveitis, whether disease presentation impacts medication response, and whether therapeutic drug monitoring can be used in pediatric uveitis. Dr. Lerman is the vice-chair of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) Uveitis workgroup. She participated in the development of CARRA’s consensus treatment plans for uveitis management and studies uveitis outcomes in CARRA Registry-based studies. She is an inaugural member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Workgroup on Uveitis. She serves as site-PI in international uveitis trials. Dr. Lerman also has a research interests in temporomandibular joint arthritis (TMJ), and co-leads the CARRA TMJ workgroup.
