Dr. Christie Bartels, MD MS, Division Chief of Rheumatology and Assoc. Professor, is a health services researcher and rheumatologist at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Bartels' research aims to reduce CVD and disparities in patients with SLE and RA. She successfully developed and disseminated EHR-supported protocols for rheumatology staff that reduced rates of high BP and improved smoking cessation referrals using implementation science. She is currently investigating lupus retention in care to address outcome disparities. Dr. Bartels has been invited on rheumatology expert panels and has served on the American College of Rheumatology Health IT (RHIT) and Quality Measures committees. She currently serves on ACR Collaborative Initiatives, the Annual Meeting Planning Committee, Chairs the RHIT Research and Publications subcommittee, and Co-chairs the ACR/CDC working group defining longitudinal digital quality measures in SLE.
