Dr. Humphrey is currently a Professor of Medicine and the Interim Vice President for Research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). She completed her MD, PhD in the Medical Science Training Program (MSTP) at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1997. She subsequently completed Internal Medicine internship, residency, and Chief residency as well as Rheumatology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. In 2007, she was recruited in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy to participate in the Autoimmune Center of Excellence at OUHSC and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City. She was promoted Professor with tenure in 2015. She has been the Division Chief of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy at OUHSC since 2013. She has maintained research funding through the VA or NIH since 2003. Her research on osteoimmunology focuses on the interactions of the bone microenvironment on the immune system. Her lab has been investigating the impact of myeloid cell activation and regulation on normal bone remodeling as well as conditions of abnormal bone remodeling such as osteoarthritis, post-menopausal osteoporosis, chronic inflammation-induced osteoporosis, and parathyroid hormone induced bone remodeling. As a clinician, she proudly serves at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center and at the OU Medical Center.
