Maria C Cid is currently Senior Consultant at the Department of Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, Hospital Clínic, Barcelona , Professor at the University of Barcelona and Senior Group Leader at the research institute Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), Spain.
She leads a vasculitis care unit and a translational research team investigating pathogenic mechanisms of blood vessel inflammation and repair with the ultimate goal of searching for biomarkers of disease activity/prognosis and therapeutic targets. She participates in the development and design of innovative international multicenter clinical trials. She serves at the physician consultant board of the Vasculitis Foundation, and is a member of the Presidential Council of the European Vasculitis Society (EUVAS).
She has generated or co-authored more than 250 publications (originals, reviews and book chapters) relating to clinical and translational aspects of blood vessel inflammation. She has delivered invited lectures at the Annual Congress of the American College of Rheumatology, European Congress of Rheumatology and International Vasculitis meeting and ANCA workshop and has delivered the E Boland Lecture at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN)
She has served in the grant management committee of the Spanish Government for Biomedical research (2013-2016) and in 2016 was elected corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Catalonia.
