Dr. Francesco Boin is the Chief of the Division of Rheumatology and the Director of the Scleroderma Program in the Kao Autoimmunity Institute at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
He received his M.D. degree from the University of Padova Medical School (Italy), then completing his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota) and a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical and experimental rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland). After joining the JHU faculty in 2005, he has been Director of the Translational Research program at the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center for a decade before joining the University of California San Francisco (San Francisco, CA) in 2015, where he held the position of Professor of Medicine and established the UCSF Scleroderma Center. Dr. Boin is an accomplished clinician and investigator with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of scleroderma and other fibrosing skin disorders. His research is focused on the genetic basis and biology of immune cells involved in the pathogenesis of systemic sclerosis.
