Kevin Downes, MD, is an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a core faculty member of the CHOP Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) and of the CHOP Center for Clinical Pharmacology, Associate Director of the combined CHOP/Thomas Jefferson University Clinical Pharmacology T32 Program, and the Clinical Director of Solid Organ Transplant Infectious Diseases program at CHOP. His research focuses on antimicrobial pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) and antibiotic-associated toxicities in vulnerable pediatric populations including critically ill and immunocompromised children. Dr. Downes has particular interests in individualized dose optimization of antimicrobials and examining the roles of biomarkers in the management of children with infectious diseases.
