Bjoern Buehring is a clinician scientist interested in inflammatory and non-inflammatory rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMD) as well as metabolic bone disease.
After graduating from Charité medical school in Berlin, Germany he continued his medical training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Cleveland Clinic and is board certified in Rheumatology and Geriatrics (in the USA and in Germany).
After working as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for several years he moved back to Germany and worked at the Rheumazentrum Ruhrgebiet of the Ruhr-University Bochum until 2021. Since 2022 he is the chair of the Rheumatology department of the Bergische Rheuma-Zentrum in Wuppertal, Germany, an academic teaching hospital of the University of Duesseldorf
His research focuses on geriatric problems, particularly those affecting mobility, in patients with RMD. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/14oviUxlLbE5g/bibliography/public/) in this area and has been able to present his research internationally. He is a member of several scientific and guideline committees in societies such as ACR, DGRh, DVO, IOF and ISCD.
