Barbara Slusher, MSW, PA-C, DFAAPA is an Advanced Practice Provider supervisor at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. She completed her PA degree at the University of North Texas, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. Barbara also holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland with a focus in substance abuse, recovery, and mental illness.
Barbara blends her social work experience with her physician assistant medical training to treat the “whole” person recognizing that physical health is a composite of mental, emotional and physical wellness. Her clinical experience as a physician assistant spans multiple specialties to include: oncology, allergy/asthma, and rheumatology. She has spent greater than eleven years in the specialty of rheumatology as she enjoys the opportunity to educate, treat, and make a difference for patients with chronic rheumatic diseases.
Barbara has a strong commitment to education and service. In pursuit of lifelong learning and international cultural exchange, Barbara opens her home to foreign exchange students and regularly volunteers with medical missions both locally and internationally.
