Dr Dzifa Dey is a consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School.
My career has been dedicated to developing rheumatology in Ghana as the pioneer rheumatologist who set up the first clinic n 2009. My research portfolio includes projects that delve into the epidemiology of Systemic Lupus erythematosus, I have been particularly interested in the predictors, risk factors and outcomes in this particular group of patients focusing on their cognitive function and cardiovascular risks in particular over past few years. I am particularly interested in preventive measures that may lead to early disease recognition to improve outcome hence my interest in public health interventions and health education
I founded the Rheumatology Initiative, tRi a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing education, advocacy and research into the autoimmune rheumatic conditions with special focus on young and adolescent persons with these conditions in Ghana and West Africa in 2011.
I am passionate about raising awareness of rheumatic diseases in West African countries and improving recognition and treatment of rheumatic diseases
