Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of progressive, inflammatory diseases that includes axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), as well as other peripheral types of SpA. These diseases share a number of typical clinical features such as inflammatory back pain, peripheral arthritis, enthesitis, and dactylitis, as well as extra-articular features such as uveitis, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, they can profoundly impact patient quality of life, causing functional disability and loss of work productivity. Recently, there have been a number of developments in SpA, including an increased understanding of pathogenesis, improved awareness of SpA, and new, efficacious therapies. This virtual symposium will feature a “test and teach” style presentation in which expert faculty will challenge one another on their clinical decision-making while encouraging the audience to consider their own approach. Case presentations will be leveraged to test learners’ knowledge/competence in managing complex cases of spondyloarthritis followed by expert instruction and rationale that teaches evidence-based management strategies.
