Telerheumatology represents a variety of methods of healthcare delivery to communicate with and manage patients beyond face to face visits.The speaker will give a high level overview of the current landscape of Telerheumatology, and then focus on future directions. This session will not cover medical management of rheumatic diseases. Through this lightning session, the viewer will understand the concept of Telerheumatology; how Telerheumatology is currently being implemented to meet patient care gaps; and review of select future directions for Telerheumatology. Dr. Christine Peoples is a leading expert in this field, as Director of the Telerheumatology program and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Peoples is also the editor and coauthor of the recently completed textbook published by Springer titled Telerheumatology: Origins, Current Practice, and Future Directions.
