This session will share current evidence-based research that deciphers the role of cardiovascular risk factors and their link to chronic inflammation in rheumatic diseases. Faculty will provide the most recent perspective of experts in cardiovascular research and how the evolving concepts and risk factors in cardiology research should be considered when rheumatologists plan approaches to mitigate cardiovascular disease risk in patients with rheumatic conditions. This session will highlight some nontraditional risk factors such as circadian rhythms, the role of different cell types, and contribution of inflammatory cytokines in amplifying the cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatic diseases.
