Faculty will review the latest research on idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, highlighting distinct mechanisms implicated in different forms of myositis. Implications for muscle deterioration, cancer, and potential novel therapies will also be highlighted.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize established and emerging role of autoantibodies on malignancy in dermatomyositis with an emphasis on those directed at TIF-1 gamma and CCAR1
Define the role of T cell necroptosis in polymyositis and understand implications of this pathway for treatment
Describe the emerging evidence for the roles of splicing repression and T cells in inclusion body myositis
