This session is targeted at adult rheumatology providers that see pediatric patients. Juvenile arthritis has changed to many names over the last several decades, including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Similarly, treatment landscape for JIA has changed drastically over the last several decades moving toward early achievement of remission with disease modifying therapy. Currently, the International League of Associations for Rheumatology (ILAR) classifies JIA into seven discrete categories. This session will discuss an overview of common clinical presentations of JIA and systemic JIA (SJIA) followed by an evidence-based discussion around the evolution of JIA treatment and outcomes over the last several decades.
