Payment models in rheumatology have continued to evolve, and new challenges to reimbursement seem to pop up daily. MIPS options and rewards/penalties change each year, with 2023 being the highest reward/penalty year yet. The new MIPS value pathway (MVP) will be introduced in rheumatology in 2023 and will be discussed, as will the role ACR’s RISE registry can play in helping practices pivot to a quality-based mentality. Is quality / value-based care contracting the future? Potential models and examples of successful implementation strategies in rheumatology practices will be discussed, as will other current and future payment challenges to watch. The session will bring together thought leaders and participants in an interactive discussion regarding the future of rheumatology practice reimbursement.
