The aim of this session is to improve the audience's understanding of a relatively new entity, interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features (IPAF). The speaker will describe what is known regarding IPAF pathobiology, natural history, prognosis and treatment.

They will also describe the role of the rheumatologist in evaluating patients without a defined rheumatic disease who have interstitial lung disease (ILD) and will outline the current IPAF classification criteria.

Learning Objectives:

Summarize classification criteria of interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features and discuss their limitations
Describe the current knowledge on pathobiology of interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features and compare with other interstitial lung diseases
Appraise the approach to evaluation and treatment of patients with ILD and no definable rheumatic disease, while considering cost-effectiveness
