We urgently need to increase awareness of the critical role that active advocacy plays toward improving the lives of our patients with rheumatic conditions. Advocacy is paramount to reducing disparities and improving the health and quality of life in the most vulnerable segments of our patient population. Moreover, active advocacy in rheumatology not only can improve the lives of those most in need and improve access to quality care, but also can support increased research funding and lower cost of medications.
