One of the reasons rheumatology is very attractive is the prospect of having great work life balance. However, this sometimes is easier said than done, especially during fellowship. Whether it's overflowing patient messages or blurred work boundaries, it can be challenging to strike balance. Dr. Webb-Detiege will be taking us on a deep dive and discussing topics like tips/tricks for a successful home life/career, avoiding burn-out, how to establish a balanced career post-fellowship, and being a parent in medicine.
Previously all FIT sessions had the same description listed below and somehow when the statement, All of the relevant financial relationships listed for faculty have been mitigated, was added it removed the description from some of the sessions. I’m currently working on specific descriptions like the one provided for the Work/Life Balance session above but in the meantime can you return the description below to Career Panel, Contract Negotiations, and Career Niche.
The Fellows-in-Training Subcommittee is providing several sessions to assist in developing a niche career path with an effective biosketch, in addition to learning about negotiating a contract, financial planning, and how to keep up with literature all while having a work/life balance.
Speaker: Tamika Webb-Detiege, MD, RhMSUS – University of Queensland/Ochsner Clinical School
