Dr. Alexander Bick is an Assistant Professor of Genetic Medicine at Vanderbilt. His scientific observations have advanced our understanding of the genetic basis for cardiovascular disease, characterized molecular disease mechanisms and identified both the promise and limitations of translating genetic findings into routine medical practice. Recently Dr. Bick has define a new axis of genetic disease risk called clonal hematopoiesis that links the biology of ageing to inflammatory diseases. His research has been recognized with a NIH Director’s Early Independence Award, a Burroughs Wellcome Career Award, a Pew Scholar Award, an ASCI Young Physician Scientist Award and Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 in health care award.
