Eugenia Shmidt, MD, is an inflammatory bowel disease specialist with an interest in sexual function, fertility, and pregnancy. At the University of Minnesota, Dr. Shmidt launched a multidisciplinary clinic with maternal-fetal specialists to counsel women with IBD regarding pregnancy. Her passion is educating women with IBD about all aspects of preconception and pregnancy, including the safety of IBD medications leading up to and during pregnancy, control of IBD activity and impact on pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes of the baby, delivery options, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
