Dr. Lauren D. Nephew is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Associate Vice Chair of Health Equity at Indiana University School of Medicine. Her research interests include disparities in care of patients with chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma, understanding barriers to liver transplantation for vulnerable populations and the impact of the social and structural determinants of health on the outcomes of patients with liver disease. She completed residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation Fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Case Western Reserve University for medical school, Dr. Nephew completed a Master’s program in Bioethics. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she completed a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. She is a health equity champion, wife, and mother of two.
