Patricia Bloom, MD, is a transplant hepatologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan. She received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts medical school and then completed internal medicine residency, gastroenterology fellowship and transplant hepatology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical interests include caring for inpatients and outpatients with cirrhosis and managing liver disease before and after liver transplantation. She performs clinical and translational research aimed to clarify the impact of the microbiome and microbiome-based therapeutics on liver disease, in particular hepatic encephalopathy. She has been recently supported by an NIH T32 grant, ACG Clinical Research Award, and the AASLD Advanced Hepatology Award. She is currently supported by an ACG Junior Faculty Development Award.
