David A. Schwartz, MD, FACG, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He founded and currently serves as the Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received his postgraduate training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and advanced training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Endoscopic Ultrasound. He is a Fellow of the ACG and AGA. His editorial experiences include serving as a Section Editor for the IBD journal (2006-2014), Associate Editor for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2014-1015), and currently serves as the Select Summary Editor for Gastroenterology. His research has focused on clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease, imaging of inflammatory bowel disease, the multidisciplinary care of the IBD patient, and the treatment of perianal Crohn's disease. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States and has written more than 300 articles, book chapters, and abstracts.
