Cynthia Moylan, MD, MHS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Duke University. She is a member of the Duke Cancer Institute and helps to lead the Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) translational research team at Duke. Cindy's research focuses on improving the lives of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and NASH through novel -omics research. Specifically, her research interests focus on the discovery of epigenetic and genomic markers that drive progression of NASH and distinguish those patients at increased risk of complications of cirrhosis including hepatocellular carcinoma. Cindy is particularly interested in epigenetic and metabolic reprogramming that may impact a patient’s risk for NAFLD and advanced liver disease through early life exposures in utero. Additionally, Cindy is an active clinician caring for patients with chronic liver disease and those pre- and post-liver transplantation at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
