Rowen K. Zetterman, MD is an internist, gastroenterologist, and hepatologist and a Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) where he has served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Research Integrity Officer, Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations in Internal Medicine, Section Chief for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Associate Dean for Veterans Affairs in the College of Medicine and as UNMC Director of Faculty Mentoring. Dr. Zetterman is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (2011-2018) and its Chair from 2016-2018. He is Dean Emeritus, Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, NE and a former Chief of Staff for the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Health Care System where he also served as Chief of the Medical Service and Associate Chief of Staff for Research. Dr. Zetterman has held leadership positions as President of the American College of Gastroenterology, Chair of both the Board of Governors and the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians (ACP), as President of the Metropolitan Omaha Medical Society and as President of the Nebraska Medical Association. He is a past Editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology and a Founding Editor for Digestive Diseases: Current Concepts in Research and Practice. He served as a delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) on behalf of ACP and as a member and past-chair of the AMA Council on Legislation. He received the Stengel Award for Outstanding Service from ACP, the Berk-Fise Clinical Achievement Award from the American College of Gastroenterology, the Distinguished Service to Medicine Award from the Nebraska Medical Association and the Centennial Legacy Award from the Nebraska Chapter of ACP. He is a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Master of the American College of Gastroenterology.
